Welcome to Teen Lit Review

Welcome to Teen Lit Review, a place where you can find detailed Christian-centered book reviews for all genres of 'tween and teen books. Our goal is to be a helpmate to parents in finding suitable books for their teens. All recommendations are solely the opinions of our reviewers. When in doubt of a book's appropriateness, we encourage you to read the book yourself.

We have several Christian reviewers and are always looking for more. If you are interested in being a reviewer, click Reviewer Interview for more instructions.

We would also appreciate your help in spreading the word by placing this button with a link back to our site on your sidebar. Copy and paste the code below into your sidebar.

Well the button is all hooked up on my site. I appreciate what you are doing.

I did notice that Shawna had the Traveling Pants book on her blog. What age is this for and is it an appropriate book. My DD read the Princess Diary ones and not until my SIL read the first one did I realize they weren't acceptable to me. So I was wondering about this other book!!

The books will be reviewed at a later time. I have read them but haven't had a chance to write the reviews. If anyone else would like to know my opinion on these books before the reviews are posted, please email me or leave a comment. Thanks!

I'd like to join the group but I can't commit to 3 reviews a month. Would you consider guest reviewers?

We would like to have guest reviewers.

Hi all,

I too was very excited when I came across your blog. Wonderful resource. I was wondering whether you could do a general list of no-no series (eg Gossip girls)

Press on! Thanks for doing this!

Flora,

Thank you so much for your encouraging comment and the suggestion. We have two categories where you can find "no-no" books. First is the "Not Recommended" category, where books have been rated as a 1 on the rating scale. There have been none so far, but I'm sure as we progress we will add to the list.

Secondly is the "Shortlisted" category for books we have attempted to read but chose not to finish due to content.

For the most part, we try to read books that you can't really tell from the cover that they are going to be offensive. Some books like "Gossip Girls" have pretty telling descriptions on the back cover that let parents know about the content.

We appreciate you stopping by, and please let us know if you have further suggestions. Leave a comment or email me directly at nutritionshawna@yahoo.com.

when you are in need of a new reviewer, I would love to be considered... I am always reading something and believe in reading he "older" books before my daughter, just to be safe.

This is a great thing you all are doing!

I'll review for you. I love YA literature, as I'm a former high school English teacher.

Traveling Pants? I loved it, but if you don't find Princess Diary acceptable, you probably won't find Traveling Pants acceptable. Just my opinion.

I recently discovered your wonderful site, it is exactly what I had been looking for! I just put your button on my blog. Thank you for doing this!

Traveling pants has many mature topics, including lossing one's virginity. I wouldn't pick it. Finding books for girls is alwasy harderb/c of th romance themes they like.

I'm not a parent, I'm a 15 yr old
Christian teenager, but I absolutely love this blog! Thank you to everyone who has put this together, because it's really nice to have a place that does book reviews on the kind of books I love to read, from a Christian perspective. I will definitely be using this blog a lot to help me find the right kinds of things to read. Thank you so much!

Wow, Thank you so much for what you are doing!! I have been looking for books for my son to read who is a very reluctant reader. He is very active, and would rather be playing football or some other active sport or facebooking with friends. I raised 3 daughters who love to read, then came my active boy. It is hard to know what to interest him in books. This site really helps. I just found it today and have already requested two books from my library because of your reviews. Very helpful! Thanks so much!

Oh my goodness! I have been looking for a site like this for years whenever trying to find out if books my boys wanted to read were appropriate. Not sure why I never stumbled on here before, but I'm so glad I finally did. Now I'm looking for books for my tween girl and this has been so helpful tonight. We found several for her to try and got confirmation that one series she was interested in needed to be left alone. I will be visiting often. Thank you!!!
